While you can view both channels of video in the UI, you cant hear the audio.
The Audio VU meter can appear the same whether there is background noise or static or actual content being captured.
You can also connect headphones to the front of a PRO device to monitor audio, but this is only helpful if you are in the room with the PRO and able to access the Front Panel.
**The ability to hear and monitor the audio from the Device UI would be very helpful when remote.

This would be very important so we can catch issues-i.e. wrong or distorted audio before class is finished so we don't have to have professors re-record lectures. Some are 2-3 hours long. Need to be able to listen live to check quality and audio source via remote web browser interface. This has happened periodically where audio meters are moving but actual sound is bad quality or otherwise unusable.

Hello, so I submitted this a year ago and am surprised it isn't more popular as it seems a basic function any recorder should have, the ability to hear audio being recorded. I do hope this goes from considering to implementing soon.

Gregory Strom This really needs to be added for active lecture monitoring. A major quality assurance blind spot in lecture capture.

I have no idea why the ability to monitor audio during a live recording capture has not been implemented as of yet. I put this request in almost a year ago and it seems to be a basic function of any recording system to be able to hear if audio is being captured . Please make this basic important function part of next update.

While the green bar is nice you have no idea what mic is picking up for sound or if it even the lecturer speaking.

Hannah Petty This seems quite a bit more useful than most of the other submissions, though Australian aboriginal terms are important. Just saw one allowing ability to increase recording volume input level suggested in 2018 finally being implemented and hope I do not have to wait 6 years for this basic obvious improvement to be completed .
