Hi
Echo engineering team. We have architectural " lecture recording in progress" LED signs in our lecture spaces at AFTRS Sydney and despite our AV integrators using crestron to interrogate Echo 360 hardware to sniff when the Echo unit is in record and turn the signs on and off, this has proven to be very unreliable. (the reasons for this have been communicated to Patrick in your support area) It was also expensive to install crestron integration into the Echo 360.
We wish to use the architectural signs integrated into our lecture spaces rather than just a 3rd party USB red light.
We are requesting a contact closure output from Echo 360 hardware when the system is in record. This can be in the form of a configured USB Relay dongle ( such as a Delcom product or similar ) in the back of the Echo hardware or a buffered 5V output on a connector etc. I am confident we are not the only university or organisation requesting such a feature.
A GPO recording mode trigger would also benefit us as it would provide a trigger to our signage system directly and keep it out of the crestron world.
It is of significant importance for our students and staff to be presented with clearly labelled illuminated signs both inside the lecture theatres and outside the entrance to the lecture theatres when any Echo recording is taking place in those environments
We are also happy to have a qualified electronics engineer add an opto coupler inside the Echo unit if you are able to provide the schematic details regarding the connection.
We would appreciate any assistance you can provide on this.
Kind Regards,
Rick Cameron. AFTRS Sydney
