Make audio level visible graphically

In ESS, it was easy to see audio level in the Monitor Summary pages, and make adjustments to it during captures. Now, it is necessary to wait until the capture processes to find out whether it was too high or too low.

Probably because seeing an audio level monitor vs actually hearing the recording is not ideal and should have been available in the first place. It is now 4 years since I asked for this, stop considering and implement it. thanks

3 years and counting since I put in basic request to be able to hear audio when recording is being made .

or if it is even recording audio at all. I have no idea why the ability to monitor audio during a recording has not been implemented as of yet. I put this request in almost a year ago and it seems to be a basic function of any recording system to be able to hear if audio is being captured .

Hi, we are currently working on something related to this idea, but it won't include what you are describing. However, we will certainly considering this feature for the future. We appreciate your support and your understanding. Thanks!

Greg Strom I'm back at this issue on 22 October 2025 after yet another occasion of a lecturer reporting a recording with no audio. On checking, the issue has been present in that venue for about a week, leading to a probable _27 hours_ of missed recordings!
Come on Echo - audio is the absolute basic essential of your product for the vast majority of users. If it was worth implementing those monitoring lights (which my institution has bought), why can't they indicate zero audio?
At the moment, using Zoom for recordings provides far better control when it comes to (a) proactive warnings from the program if there is no audio, and (b) the ability to switch mics live if needed. I've encouraged academics back to Echo360 after the pandemic for the convenience of automated recordings. But the lack of absolute basics like this are a serious failing in the product and make me question my recommendation. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Thank you for submitting this feedback. As we have brought two organizations together, each with separate products, we are in process of merging feedback and categorizing it appropriately. During this merging process, we are reviewing each item and moving this feedback back to the under review status until we have completed our review. I will reach back out as we start getting ready to implement this.

Is it possible to add a audio level indicator in the Rooms tab for each room. This will allow us to identify rooms that do not have audio coming in. Currently there is no way to monitor this in ECHO360 without manually checking each room separately. With 70 rooms recording concurrently. This isnt an ideal solution.

Audio indicator during capture

In the server version, as the capture was in progress, an color bars indicated that audio and video etc were being captured. It sure would be helpful to see that audio is being received during capture. Is it possible to add that indicator back into the system?

It would also be very handy making this sort of monitoring available in Personal Capture. Instead, there is very little feedback, and when you listen to the recording within Personal Capture, the results are WILDLY different from the audio levels in the published recording.
This is VERY tedious!
(I appreciate that there is a warning that this will happen in the online help... that doesn't make it excusable, though)
