The new video player blocks the poll controls, making it harder to answer or manage polls when viewing slides in full screen.

The play bar superimposes over the full screen slide, exactly where the poll submission button is for students or the "close poll" button is for students.

Using the "split view" is a bit of a workaround, but not a seamless user experience.

This is for polls with asynchronous video.
