Student Centred Engagement Analysis

When trying to measure student engagement it would be helpful to see what videos an individual student engaged with and for how long. That would provide an understanding of the student experience and, to some extent, measure their understanding of the video content. We already extract a lot of data using the API's so it needn't be a report but the ability to extract the data via this method.

This is something we have been working on at Nottingham University since the summer of 2020 due to the lockdowns, not only for checking on students grades but also in pastoral sense to check on their personal wellbeing.
We found the data from echo API's is vast and the complexity of combining the videoviews and videosessions data can cause some missed engagement.
A "student engagement dashboard" where staff and student can check on individuals would be great, and being able to pull this data using an API to be combined with other student engagement data most beneficial for our institution.
