This seems like a handy feature to consider! I would think that you would want to include a drop-down list of instructors that are in the course so students can select the specific instructor(s) they need to communicate with. Secondly, it would be nice to see a feature like this provide the instructor with a notification of new messages, and allow the instructors to reply to the single student or to email the entire class with the response (of course, scrubbing the original student's name before replying to provide some anonymity).

Seems like this is something that may already be available within an LMS/VLE, but not all of your client institutions are using LMS/VLE so an integrated solution might be very useful.
