Transcript Editor Add/Delete Line and Adjust Timings

We hire student workers to edit the ASR Transcripts. When they come across a line that is too long or too short, we would like for them to be able to add/delete a line in the transcript editor and adjust the timing manually as needed. Currently, we have to take extra time to try and re-work the lines around an edit.

Not being able to move time stamps in the editor is a real problem for us.
We have the issue described by the others on this thread, and we also have issues editing captions where there is more than one voice recorded. Two speakers' words can be included in one line in the editor which can make an interview or debate nonsensical. Moving some of the text to the previous or next stamp to differentiate the speakers causes the captions to go out of sync.
The other major issue we have with editing stems from the ASR process being rerun after edits are made to the video media itself. Sometimes a user will cut out empty space in the recording (beginning, breaks, ends) and then find that their edits / corrections are now in a previous version of the transcript that no longer matches the times stamps. They have to start editing again on the new ASR.
The ability to edit time stamps would make a huge difference.

We face this same issue with our student workers! Having a way to edit the times would be very handy.

We're also having student workers edit transcripts, and this feature would be great. Honestly, the Echo editor is a bit clunky so we use other software to edit transcripts, but making Echo more user-friendly would be a plus.

Andrew Swanson Agreed - compared with Rev, 3Play or even Kaltura, editing transcripts in Echo is challenging. When the video is full lecture length, that makes a huge difference in time spent.

We are doing the same at UoE and this is one of the key feedback points from our editors!
