Match the size of control elements so they're all the same minimum size - the side drawer pull out (>) on the left hand side is tiny and inconsequentially coloured where the overlay controls are a huge contrasting colour, and the filter button is again another height.

This increases the cognitive load of working in the platform, as each element needs to be looked at consciously to determine if it's a control, embellishment, or setting.
