When installing Universal Capture - Classroom, the installer writes the MAC address of the primary physical network adapter to a registry entry and then does not update it. Apparently, if the MAC address in the registry does not match the MAC address of the physical adapter, the software starts spamming Echo360 Support about the mismatch.
This is a big problem when imaging classroom computers. We do not and cannot go door-to-door installing UC-Classroom on each of 300 classroom podium computers. We install all the software once on a master computer, test it all and then capture an image from that master that will be copied onto all of the classroom podium computers. This means your support team will now be spammed from all of our classrooms because the MAC address in the copied registry entry will not match ANY of the actual classroom podium computers.
Instead, I recommend one of two approaches, which are consistent with other software we install in our images:
  1. Allow the software to update the MAC address in the registry entry every time it is launched so that the MAC address recorded will always match the actual hardware, OR
  2. Provide a tool we can use to "genericize" or wipe the MAC address and other instance-specific settings that are recorded. Then after imaging, the software will rewrite those settings to the registry on first launch on each newly-imaged computer.
