Custom User Roles and Access Control Privileges Matrix
in development
Y
Yazid Idris
Currently, there are 5 User roles in Echo360 ALP; Admins, Instructors, Schedulers, Students, Teaching Assistants
At the institution level, there are various users who only need to access certain features in Echo360 ALP and the only role available would be the ‘Admin’ role, which would give them too much access rights.
As such, we would like to request for an access control matrix feature to be developed for the institution administrators. This would allow customization of the privileges for each Role or create a new Custom Role with custom privileges that are different from those listed and fixed in https://support.echo360.com/customer/portal/articles/2940252-user-roles-capabilities-and-limitations
This would allow the administrators to create custom roles with specific access rights to the various tools, based on the institution’s security policy.
For example, a ‘Report Builder’ role can be created and assigned to our business users who only need to access the Analytics dashboard page/tab in ALP; a ‘AV Support’ role to allow the technical support staff to access only the Captures page/tab in ALP.
Thank you!

We would really like the ability to define permissions for roles as Admins for specific techs and other users. Will this be something that will be part of the Folders phase 3 or 4 enhancements?

Customizable user permissions or Technician Specific Role

Would like a user type that would serve technicians that would give access needed to provision devices, configure and troubleshoot hardware issues. This would include the rooms tab, Captures tab, Institution settings but no access to user account info etc.

Designated Admins - more granular permissions

Richard Stein
We use designated admin roles to give embedded techs access to troubleshoot Echo360 issues before raising them to a centralized specialist.
I would like to have more granular permissions in the designated admin tab -
-giving access to the Rooms tab to see room status, but not modify settings,
-giving access to Users tab to look users up, but not change users information,
-not having access to change institution settings,
-others based on community feedback

Scheduler Role with access to captures page

The scheduler role in Echo360 is similar to that of Admins, but can only see the Courses and Imports/Exports tab. It would be ideal for our staff members if a user with a schedular role also had access to the CAPTURES page, where they can see the status of their scheduled sessions. We want access to the CAPTURES page for schedulers. Ideally, disabling ROOM access with an on/off Toggle for more control is "Should Have" for us.

Read Only Role for Service Desk/Support Staff

We would like a read only role to enable support staff to view current recordings and allow them to assist customers with quick queries in respect to whether recordings are taking place or have been scheduled, without having full admin access within Echo360.

Custom role

We want to create a custom role when assigned allows the role to change a videos owner, and no other admin privileges.
Looking through the settings, is there one I put on for this? Which option does ownership fall under?
Basically, our video department wants to make a video, upload it to Echo360, and pass off ownership to the faculty member.
I know they can share, and faculty creates a copy, but they are looking for a solution to remove that step.

New Role Creation
Rechodd Carter
This question has been brought to our attention again, we would like to have a role created that can schedule, ad hoc schedule, and View courses. They should not be able to make any changes to the system. Our main issue is that someone keeps opening up the old terms.

Very overdue, seems silly that we have either all options or very little.

Ability for users to transfer ownership to another user
Lucinda Ramsay
We have a lot of media content being created by our LDs and media team, who then want to transfer ownership of the videos to the academic who will be utilising the content within their course. Currently only admins can transfer ownership from one user to another, which is time consuming and causes unnecessary double-handling. It would be great if a user could transfer ownership to another user themselves.
