GoReact

We rely heavily on the GoReact Observation Rubrics as we evaluate and coach our more than 800 special education teacher candidates. I have two wishes for score calculations. I request 2 changes to help my instructor coaches provide better feedback to students. --Rather than a subtotal of total points scored per TPE/Domain, calculate the average competency (score/number of sub-TPEs) --In addition to the total overall score which Dr. Kirsch needs, calculate the overall competency by adding competency averages for each of the 7 domains and dividing by 7. For our instructor coaches, the level of competency(1-4) is far more valuable information than the number of points scored. With average competency identified per major TPE, we can identify domain areas of needed growth and follow progress through their clinical practice experience. I have attached an observation rubric where I calculated each domain competency level and a total competency level to show you what I want. Hopefully, this is possible.

The GoReact LTI works well and is easy to learn. Perhaps the biggest hurdle there is that we cannot pass back the full rubric into our LMS; we can only pass back the overall score. That’s fine for most assessments, but we have Benchmark assessments that the university gathers rubric row data on, so if we use GoReact for a Benchmark assessment, we have to use a work-around for the rubric.

We are used to creating rubrics in a Word document where they are reviewed by several people, including our Editors, and we are then able to use an import tool that loads them into our LMS rubric space for each assessment. Is this something that might be available for GoReact rubrics in the future? For courses that use several GoReact assessments, it would save a lot of time and decrease the opportunity for errors.
