The new player becomes seriously laggy and basically unusable for me while the transcript is open in the side bar. I'm no React expert but I would guess this is probably because in your implementation, it just creates thousands of <div>s, one for each transcript line (including ones not being displayed!), which lags up the page when React has to re-render it. I suggest making the transcript create div elements on-the-fly and only show the minimum amount of divs required when the user scrolls around/searches. I am using Firefox but this also happens on chromium.

I am a Chinese student currently enrolled at the Australian National University (ANU) and have been utilizing the Echo360 platform extensively for my studies. During the last semester, I found the platform incredibly user-friendly, especially due to the presence of subtitles on the right side of the screen. This feature was particularly beneficial to me as I was able to use the Monica plugin—an AI assistant—to translate these subtitles into Chinese sentence by sentence. This integration allowed for a seamless experience where I could watch lecture replays without the barrier of language. The sentence-by-sentence translation also ensured that I did not get stuck on certain terminologies or mistranslations, which would otherwise consume a significant amount of time. However, since the recent update to the Echo360 platform this semester, I have encountered a frustrating issue. When attempting to use Monica to translate the subtitles, the Chinese translation now overlaps with the original English subtitles, rendering them unreadable. This has been quite disheartening. I have attempted alternative methods such as downloading the subtitles and translating them into Chinese, but this workaround is not only inefficient but also lacks the convenience of having the subtitles scroll synchronously with the video playback. I suspect the problem may be related to changes in the website’s front-end, although I am not entirely sure of the specifics. I am using the Microsoft Edge browser, and this issue has been a significant impediment to my learning experience. It would be immensely helpful if your team could look into this issue and update the platform to restore compatibility with the translation functionality of the Monica plugin. An update that would allow for the proper display of translated subtitles without overlap would greatly enhance my and other non-English-speaking students' ability to learn.

Since the recent update, when editing transcripts, the pause when typing function doesn't work. The slider still moves, but the video no longer pauses when typing.

For the echo video player could you enable the ability to directly copy text from the video transcript (this was a feature previously, but is not available in the recent update).

Our school does not use a Closed Captioning service but would like to have the option (via institution settings toggle) of automatically using the ASR transcripts as the Closed Caption track. It would not be perfect, but it would be a better start than nothing. What it would do is take out the manual step of turning it on within the Transcript Editor.

In ESS there was the ability to submit all recordings uploaded to a section to a third-party CC provider for captioning. In ALP CC submission is enabled at the schedule level which is not useful for Personal Capture recordings, media Import, or SCHD AdHoc captures. Anything other than a scheduled capture needs to be submitted manually in ALP. As the need for captioned video continues to grow, the ability to collectively submit groups of videos for CC (at the section level) would be a fantastic feature to bring forward from ESS.

Can we please have a 'request ASR' added to the transcript option on the 'Details' page. This feature should be controlled via a toggle that can be enabled by admins. This would allow users to request ASR without having to publish the video to a section.

Some of transcript / subtitle are not correctly , I would love to edit it maumally and may be include some hightlighting , note taking function

Before COVID, we can enable 'CC' for captures when we schedule them. Now the lectures are pre-recorded and uploaded to Echo as a repository. We have to manually send the files to process closed captions. Very often a course has over 20 videos. Would be great that we can send it to process CC in the captures screen instead of going to individual videos and click multiple clicks. Just like the option Request Transcript. Sometimes we lost track which video we are up to.

We have ASR on for recordings, but many times the transcriptions don't need editing. Can there be a selective switch to auto publish it as the CC? This could be per section and shouldn't be applied globally.
